How to Make Changes to Your Voter Registration
(Name, Address, Party Affiliation)
The voter registration form can also be used to change your name, address, and party affiliation. You can also sign-up to work as an Election Inspector by checking the box at the very top.
Absentee Voting
Qualifications to Vote by Absentee Ballot
- Absent from your county or, if a resident of New York City absent from said city, on Election Day.
- Unable to appear at the polls due to temporary or permanent illness or disability; or because you are the primary care giver of one or more individuals who are ill or physically disabled.
- A resident or patient of a Veterans Health Administration Hospital.
- Detained in jail awaiting Grand Jury action or confined in prison after conviction for an offense other than a felony.

Change of Party Enrollment
Election Law states that the voter registration form should be used to change your party enrollment from one party to another.
A change of enrollment received by the board of elections will take effect immediately except any change of enrollment received by the board of elections after February fourteenth and before or on seven days after the June primary shall take effect on the seventh day after the June primary.
Victims of Domestic Violence Voter Confidentiality
New York Election Law allows victims of domestic violence who obtain a court order from the NY Supreme Court to have their voter registration record kept separate and apart from other registration records and not be made available to the public.
